Dominique Hellgeth is a maker, a teacher, and a community artist.
She came to Baltimore in 2006 to study painting and soon after switched to clay when she discovered the immediacy of the material, and its potential to allow her to work collaboratively in three dimensions.
She joined Americorps in 2011, completing two terms as a Baltimore Clayworks Community Artist in Residence. Her mentors, Laura Cohen, and Herb Massie, helped to shape her focus as an organizer, community liaison, and a collaborative teacher, with an emphasis on motivating the highest quality of artwork possible from participants. In 2014 she was hired as a Teaching Artist for Baltimore Clayworks and for Young Audiences of Maryland. She is also a freelance mosaic artist, and custom tile builder.
